“FACE THE FUTURE”
The first details of the programming for the fourteenth edition of International Music Summit Ibiza, a leading thought-leadership platform in electronic music has finally been announced. The three-day event will take place at the Destino Pacha Ibiza Resort, which will be exclusively privatized for attending delegates for the second year running.
Co-hosted by BBC Radio 1 broadcasters Pete Tong and Jaguar, the summit will bring together innovators, creators, visionaries, and disruptors from across the global electronic music ecosystem to analyze the most crucial business challenges and opportunities facing the industry today.

IMS x Beatport
Beatport, the world’s largest electronic dance music (EDM) platform, has made a major move in the industry by acquiring a majority stake in International Music Summit (IMS), the global conference and networking event for the electronic music industry. The announcement was made on February 28th, 2023, and the deal will see Beatport take over control of IMS, with co-founder Ben Turner remaining as managing director.
The acquisition marks Beatport’s first major foray into the live events space and consolidates its position as a key player in the electronic music scene. For IMS, it presents an opportunity to tap into Beatport’s vast network and resources and expand its reach beyond its current annual event in Ibiza. The electronic music industry is currently experiencing significant growth, with EDM artists and festivals continuing to draw large crowds and generate significant revenue. According to a report by the International Music Summit, the global electronic music industry was worth $7.3 billion in 2022, up from $4.4 billion in 2010.
The report also noted that streaming was the dominant revenue source for the industry, accounting for 55% of total revenue in 2022. With Beatport’s acquisition of IMS, the company is in a prime position to capitalize on this growth and become a leader in the electronic music industry. Robb McDaniels, Beatport’s CEO, stated that the acquisition “represents a significant milestone in Beatport’s journey to become the premier destination for electronic music fans and professionals.”
The event will feature a range of speakers, including Max Lousada (Warner Music Group, CEO, Recorded Music), Ben Mawson (Co-Founder, TaP Music), and Jennifer Justice (Founder/CEO, The Justice Dept.). The summit will cover a range of topics, from AI and music rights management to diversity and inclusion, and the ever-changing dynamic between agents and promoters.
In addition to the speaker lineup, IMS Ibiza will host a range of workshops and masterclasses, including a workshop led by LP Giobbi (Artist) on sound production, engineering, and design for women, queer, and non-binary folk. Elijah (Founder, Make The Ting) will lead a workshop on cutting through the noise on social media to build resonant brands.

The summit will also provide opportunities for delegates to explore best practice and innovation in technology, diversity and inclusion, education, and wellness, presented in engaging formats across the sprawling seaside Destino Pacha Resort site. The Art of Areté will once again be fully integrated into the IMS Ibiza experience, offering daily programming supporting the mental health of the industry.
IMS College, presented in partnership with Point Blank Music School, will offer a complete schedule of artist-led workshops and DJ & production masterclasses. IMS Tech X will showcase the latest in technology, providing a carefully curated selection of the world’s most innovative brands, including Pioneer DJ, TribeXR, and more. The YouTube Lounge will create an all-purpose co-working space for delegates to host meetings, network, and enjoy refreshments.

While the acquisition of International Music Summit by Beatport has raised concerns among some industry insiders about the potential homogenization of the electronic music landscape, many are optimistic about especially because the collaboration between International Music Summit and Beatport is much longer lasting than this acquisition which simply consolidates one of the partnerships that has really given a lot to the electronic music industry in recent years.

IMS Dalt Vila
The International Music Summit has also announced its highly anticipated annual IMS Dalt Vila event in Ibiza, marking the close of the three summit days and the flagship event of IMS. The event features a unique and diverse lineup of emerging DJs and established talents, including CamelPhat, ANNA, Kölsch, Pete Tong, Ida Engberg, Marshall Jefferson, Layla Benitez, Jellybean Benitez, Jaguar and TAAHLIAH. This seven-hour musical celebration takes place in historic Dalt Vila, a 2,500-year-old former fort and UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers spectacular views of Catedral de Eivissa and the Mediterranean Sea. The event opens with the winner of the Pete Tong DJ Academy Future Talent Awards.
