6Shots Episodio #03: Nicholson

  • A quale artista ti sei ispirato maggiormente?

Italia e musica

[ENGLISH VERSION]

We recently inaugurated our new format “6 Shots”, a double Live on Instagram with 6 questions for the guest of the day. The first episode was with our Stefano Ranieri who hosted Kharfi and the second with Rudeejay starring with our Rudenzio Cassago. For the third episode we speak english with Nicholson. A career spanning more than 25 years ago, a boundless love for music and the support of great artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk and many others. All of this is Carl Nicholson who continues to amaze his fans with new tracks and albums.

Coronavirus emergency in the world

  • How are you experiencing this moment of Emergency due to Coronavirus?

It’s a bad and scary time, is necessary to stop our life to stay safe. Music is a passion, so it’s right not to take risks. This period is also good to stay with the family and appreciate what each of us has. At home music takes a lot of the time: I work a lot in the studio because there is a lot of music to be created.

Nicholson’s career

  • How did you career start?

My career started about 25 years ago. I think it just happened, I fell in love with music and it all started from there. I remember my self in West London seeing deejays playing and saying I’d like to be there too. But, in my opinion, money, girls, success are not what create a musician’s career, but I think you feel fulfilled when you see people dancing, excited and enthusiastic about your songs.

  • With artist were you most inspired during your career?

Tony De Vit has been a point of reference for entire generations. I’ve never seen a deejay do what he did. It is absolutely number one for me.

Italy and music

  • Have you ever been to Italy?

It’s on my pocket list. I love Tuscany and would like to go there, stay here and never go back. Unfortunately I have not yet had the opportunity to come to Italy, but it’s definitely on my pocket list and it’s also very close to the UK. In Italy there are really many beautiful places and I love Italian food too. Also I’d love to play one day in Italy: I have not yet had this opportunity, but fingers crossed for the future.

  • What do you know about the world of trance music in Italy?

Obviously Giorgio Moroder, he invented dance music. But also Mario Più, Mauro Picotto and many others. You guys are lucky. What if I had to choose an italian deejay to collaborate with? I would choose obviously Mauro Picotto! I’m not sure I can work better with him because I would be amazed and open-mouthed, thinking “Wow! I’m really in the studio with Mauro Picotto”.

Future

  • What will be in Nicholson’s future?

Live dates for now are out of the question, but I have 26 tracks ready. The first one, probably, will be released on Beatport on May 24th and then, coming out around mid May, there is also my remix of the song “Right in the Night” by Jam & Spoon. Finally, I also have an album practically ready, but I plan to release it as soon as the current Coronavirus emergency is over.
