Buona lettura!

  • Ciao Mercer!

Ieri ho suonato a Budapest e stasera gioco in casa qui a Cannes. È fantastico, settimana prossima Ibiza e poi Mykonos!

  • E se ti dicessi: “Made in France”? Come vi è venuta l’idea? Com’è stato far collaborare l’intera Pardon My French?

Cosa ti ha portato dal fare “Let’s Get Ill” a una traccia come “Your Love”?

Let’s Get Ill per me è ancora Old School House, ed è ciò che a me piace fare: ispirazione e riferimenti old school.

English version

A totally “Made In France” interview: Mercer tells about himself at Les Plages Électroniques festival

Our experience at Les Plages Électroniques festival sadly came to an end.  But we can’t tell the same of our always rich in new exclusive contents interviews. This time our Stefania and Giulia interviewed one of the Pardon My French members: we’re talking about Mercer!

After an intense summer, the parisian dj came home on August 10th, and  kindly answered to our questions. Enjoy the reading!

  • Hi Mercer! Today is the day of your first appearance at Les Plages Électroniques. Are you excited? How has your summer gone so far?

I’m pretty excited, because I’ve known this festival for some years. I came here two years ago, with DJ Snake! I saw that it was a big festival, with a big production and a big stage. And I wanted to play here, so here I am tonight!

My summer went pretty well, too, I’ve been busy…but I love it, so it’s totally fine. Last night I played in Budapest, tonight here at my home in France. It’s amazing, next week Ibiza and then Mykonos!

  • What if I told you: Made in France? How did you get the idea? How was working all together?

The thing is that we were working all together for like 20 years by now. We had always wanted to do a track all together, we know that people were waiting for it. So we started the track some years ago, actually, but we had never finished it. We worked on it again and again, then in the end we said “Ok, let’s finish it all together, and let’s put it in Carte Blanche! “.

  • We’ve noticed a change of your musical style through the years, right? What brought you from “Let’s get ill” to “Your Love”?

Let’s Get Ill is still Old School House for me, and that’s what I like to do: old school inspiration, old school reference. I wanted to do my best combining the background I’ve had for years and the music I was listening to when I was younger and when I was growing up, with with the sound of today. That’s the thing. In fact, Your Love is funkier.

  • How do you personally describe your latest EP “Neo Disco 2”?

It’s totally a club EP, for clubs and djs. The goal when you do an EP is to bring a universal concept, along with promoting your style. That’s what I wanted to do with “Neo Disco” and “Neo Disco 2”. It’s like an ID card: you show what you’re doing, with different vibes. So in the end it’s a typical EP made of clubbing tracks.

  • Any new releases and collaborations?

Yes, for sure. I just finished a remix, but I can’t tell you who it is for. It will be out next month!
