Di ritorno da Les Plages Électroniques, uno dei più importanti festival estivi d’Europa situato a Cannes in Costa Azzurra, si le nostre Stefania e Giulia hanno avuto l’occasione di intervistare uno dei talenti francesi più in voga della deep house, il parigino Zimmer. A voi l’intervista (in basso come sempre trovate la versione in inglese).
- Da Marsiglia a Cannes a Les Plages Électroniques. Cosa ci dovevamo aspettare dal tuo set?
Penso che oggi sarà uno spasso perché suono più o meno al tramonto, il che è un momento magnifico in cui suonare ad un festival. La gente arriva che l’atmosfera è già in corso, è già diciamo, impostata. Solitamente mi piace molto passare da un mood più chill a uno più festaiolo.
- Da dove trovi l’ispirazione? C’è stato qualcuno che ha influenzato il tuo stile deep & chill?
Più passa il tempo e più vengo influenzato, poco a poco. Provo a far partire tutto da me, qualsiasi cosa faccia, che sia in viaggio per esempio, va tutto nella mia musica. Certamente, ci sono persone che hanno influito e che influiscono tuttora sul mio stile, come Jamie XX e Bonobo…ci sono molte influenze a dire la verità, ma provo sempre a fare il mio.
- Nella tua agenda vediamo un release party a Parigi molto presto. Dicci di più!
L’album è un omonimo, infatti si chiama “Zimmer”. Ho fatto musica per 7 anni e questo album è un po’ la conclusione di tutto questo. Ho messo tutte le influenze in un unico disco.
L’evento si terrà il 19 settembre in un leggendario club parigino, il Rex Club. Ci saranno con me altri 2 artisti che mi piacciono molto, Arnaud Rebotini e You Man. Sarà divertentissimo!
- Cosa ci puoi dire delle tue prossime produzioni?
C’è solo una release prima dell’uscita dell’album del 27 di settembre, quindi continuate a seguirmi!
- Quando ti vedremo in Italia? Qualche data?
Mi piacerebbe molto. Ho suonato tanto in Francia, in Asia e in Nord America, ma non così tanto in Europa. Mi piace la musica italiana, ci sono molti bravi artisti come DJ Tennis e Marvin & Guy. Nella scena disco sono molto influenti, ed è anche il motivo per cui li suono spesso nei miei set. C’è una sorta di vibe Italo-disco, come quella di Tiger & Woods, per esempio. Adoro la scena musicale italiana.

Interview with Zimmer at Les Plages Électroniques: what connects him to Italy and the new incoming album

Our Stefania and Giulia joined the Côte d’Azur festival, and had the occasion to interview one of the most in vogue deep house French talents, Zimmer. Here’s the interview!
- From Marseille to Cannes at Les Plages Électroniques. What did we have to expect from your set?
I think it’ll be really fun today because I’m playing around sunset time, which is always a nice time to play at a festival because people are arriving and the vibe is already being set. I like switching from a chill mood to a party one.
- Where do you get inspiration? Who has influenced you the most for your deep & chill style?
The more the time goes by, the more I get influenced, little by little. I try to make everything come from me, whatever I do goes into my music. Of course, there are some people that have influenced and are still influencing me, like Jamie XX and Bonobo…there are so many influences, but I try to make all on my own.
- On your schedule we see an album release party in Paris very soon. Tell us something about it!
The album is a self-titled one, called “Zimmer”. I’ve been doing music for 7 years and this album is kind of the conclusion of all this. It puts all my influences into one record. The event will be on the 19th of September at the Rex Club in Paris, a legendary club. There will be with me other two artists that I really like, Arnaud Rebotini and You Man. It’s going to be fun!
- What about your next releases?
I will have only one release before the album comes out on the 27th of September, so stay tuned!
- When will we see you in Italy? Any date maybe?
I’d wished to. I’ve played a lot in France, Asia and North America, but not that much in Europe. I love Italian music, there are so many good artists like DJ Tennis and Marvin & Guy. In the disco scene they’re very influential and that’s why I play them in my dj sets as well. There’s kind of Italo-disco vibe, like Tiger & Woods. I really love the Italian music scene.
