Come già successo dall’inizio dello scorso decennio con artisti come Avicii o Zedd per citarne un paio, torna nuovamente l’idea di un unire un altro genere all’EDM. E’ questo il caso di Diplo che ha recentemente annunciato la tracklist del suo nuovo album sotto l’alias Thomas Weasley.
Thomas Weasley Chapter 1: Snake Oil.
Dopo il successo mondiale con il suo remix di Old Town Road con Lil Nas X e Billy Ray Cyrus, Diplo ha proseguito gradualmente con altre release sul filone country/EDM in collaborazione con grandi artisti sotto l’alias Thomas Weasley. Questa settimana è stata pubblicata sui suoi social la tracklist del suo nuovo album, Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley Chapter 1: Snake Oil. Il disco comprende le già uscite “So Long” con Cam, “Heartless” con Morgan Wallen e “Lonely” con la band pop Jonas Brothers. Inoltre Diplo ha pubblicato un nuovo brano da rodeo, ” Do Si Do “, con Blanco Brown, proprio la scorsa settimana.

Country/EDM e prospetive.
Come detto Thomas non è il primo a sondare questo terreno. Il precursore indiscusso di questa sperimentazione è stato Avicii con le sue hit Wake Me Up ed Hey Brother. Altri produttori sono poi col tempo andati in quella direzione. Marshmello ci ha provato la scorsa estate con la cantante country Kane Brown per One Thing Right. Il più recente invece è stato Gryffin che con la sua Hold You Tonight con il cantante country Chris Lane ha riscosso un successo positivo. Diplo è tuttavia il primo produttore in assoluto a pubblicare un album country completo. Vogliamo quindi interpretare questa scelta come l’ennesimo progetto musicale ben riuscito del tre volte vincitore di un Grammy Awards. Ora Mad Decent ha anche questo volto, e una domanda sorge spontanea infine: dove vuole portare la sua label? Staremo a vedere!

I’ll starts my experience with music in the same way as I do today: listening. When I was a teenager I was really addicted to metal music, especially Power Metal. I evolved to metalcore, post hardcore ecc. before meeting Skrillex on my way. So I started my interest in electronic dance music, living in a club, Vibe Music Zone, here in my town as a PR. I experienced a lot about live shows, club management and all that can walk around a club. With some mates by there we started a radio show. On Facebook first, than 2 years in a local radio, Radio Like, and one at Radio Loco. Here as art director and founder of The Garden Show, where my selection was played. 31st December 2020 I left my activity as a speaker to keep in touch more with music biz, studying at Point Blank Music School.
