VirtualDJ Now Supports OneLibrary: One Library for Every Setup
As of September 15, 2026, VirtualDJ officially supports OneLibrary — the unified DJ music library format developed by AlphaTheta in collaboration with hardware and software partners across the industry.
The integration has a straightforward practical meaning for VirtualDJ users: music collections can now be exported to a USB drive in OneLibrary format and used directly on compatible AlphaTheta hardware, without conversion, without data loss, and without the friction of moving between closed ecosystems.
What OneLibrary Is
Launched in October 2025, OneLibrary is a standardised format that allows DJs to carry their library — playlists, Hot Cues, beatgrid data — across hardware and software from different manufacturers. The stated goal is to eliminate one of the most concrete pain points in professional DJ workflow: ecosystem lock-in, where switching software or hardware means starting your library from scratch.
With VirtualDJ now on board, the initiative takes a significant step toward the cross-platform interoperability that professional DJs have been asking for for years.
Compatible Hardware
AlphaTheta hardware currently supported via OneLibrary includes:
- CDJ-3000X
- CDJ-1500X
- XDJ-AZ
- XDJ-AN
- OPUS-QUAD
- OMNIS-DUO
A version of VirtualDJ that supports OneLibrary is required to use the format. For users who also work with rekordbox, AlphaTheta recommends updating to version 7 or later for optimal library management and synchronisation stability.
Atomix Productions Weighs In
Stephane Clavel, CEO of Atomix Productions — the company behind VirtualDJ — commented on the integration: “DJs shouldn’t have to adapt to technology: technology should adapt to DJs. That’s why VirtualDJ has always prioritised openness and compatibility, allowing DJs to use any hardware, any format, and any workflow without friction. We welcome initiatives like OneLibrary that push the industry toward greater interoperability and simplicity.”
An Industry Opening Up
VirtualDJ’s adoption of OneLibrary fits into a broader strategic direction from AlphaTheta, which is actively working to build an open, non-proprietary DJ ecosystem. Founded as a Pioneer division in 1994 and rebranded as AlphaTheta Corporation in 2020, the company has historically dominated the professional player market with a tightly integrated rekordbox ecosystem. OneLibrary marks an explicit shift: rather than using a closed format as a competitive advantage, AlphaTheta is positioning an open standard as shared industry infrastructure.
