Matteo Villa:

Ciao David, saluti dall’Italia!
come artista?

DAVID GUETTA:

in qualsiasi festival nessuno ballerebbe quindi.. mmh..

Justin Wilkes:
ahaha.. abbiamo perso David! Dooh!

Matteo Villa:
Grazie mille!

Justin Wilkes:
Grazie Matteo!

*Thanks The Media Nanny for the oppurtunity and David Guetta for being an absolute piece of dance music and clubbing history!*

INTERVISTA (INGLESE):

Matteo Villa:
Ciao David, cheers from Italy! Nice to meet you and thanks for the opportunity!
Well.. just a question about your relationship with social media. You know, you said w
e’re “one family” adapting and developing new ways to experience the larger amount of music released every week.

What do you think about the connection of the music world with a faster social media world in term of promotion and communication as artist?
DAVID GUETTA:

mmh ok, so different things.. first something in the neighbor that is the influence of social media in music, so for example one of the most influencial media right now is TikTok and the attention spent on TikTok is 15 seconds / 30 seconds. If you think that dance music records often are 8 minute long you realize that this is a complete disconnection between the way kids are consuming music and what we’re doing but I think that’s amazing and I think we should have records that don’t obey the dictact of what make music on the form head of consumption cause dance music was never about that.

So when I make a pop record I take TikTok into consideration but when I make a dance music record I don’t because I think our role is to make music that is not the victim of all the tools of marketing and tools of streaming music.

I think actually in the last years something very interesting came out: it’s dance music for streaming. It’s dance music that doesn’t make you dance and to me this is absolutely nuts and the reason is that real dance music.. the sonics right now are not good for streaming but if you go to back biggest playlists you take those records and you play them in any festival, no-one would dance so..

LOST CONNECTION
Justin Wilkes:
We have lost David! Dooh! Hopefully he’s gonna come back very quickly. Here he is, he’s back!

DAVID GUETTA:
I wanna say, this is very exhausting because of course answering to so many people but this is one of the most interesting interviews of my life and I really appreciate doing this because usually I always answer the same fucking questions and it’s nice to speak to people that are talking about music.
So what I wanna say about the question that you asked about the influence of social media and streaming on dance music I was saying something very strange has been created, that is dance music that don’t make you dance because it’s dance music that is created for streaming to be playlisted but that no dj in the world would ever play and this is very strange to me because what is dance music that don’t make you dance? What is the essence of this you know?
I don’t have the answer to that but I just find it interesting. yeah

Matteo Villa:
Yeah I was also linking to your premiere of “Let’s Love” on TikTok which was great, a nice strategy.

DAVID GUETTA:
Oh, to come back to this what i’m trying to say is that I will always use every tool that is available to promote my music but it doesn’t mean i’m gonna make or change my music to adapt because there are some new tools.

Matteo Villa:
Thank you!
