Ci troviamo ancora all’Hotel Pulitzer di Amsterdam, in occasione del “Press Day” organizzato da Spinnin’ Records, dove questa volta abbiamo l’onore di scambiare due parole con Daan Romers, in arte Dannic.
Decretato 61esimo dj al mondo dalla Top100 Dj Mag 2017, Dannic è un nome importante per la scena EDM. Lo conosciamo per le sue numerevoli collaborazioni con l’amico Hardwell, e dal suo suono Groove.
Nel 2015 presenta durante l’ADE la sua label personale Fonk Recordings.

– We know that you worked with italian artists such as Merk & Kremont and Promise Land, but you have also published USAI and Dirty Ducks tracks with your label. So what do you think about the Italian EDM scene?
I think Italian producers are really talented, they have a really strong groove, and I found it helpful to work with these guys.
– Let’s talk about your label Fonk Recordings, a project officially launched in 2015. In recent years you have promoted lots of young talents, so what is the key to making a young man create a path within Fonk?
Surely you should have a groovy sound, because this is the kind of style which represents the label. I always look also for something new, even a simple sound that differs from others. Another important thing is, of course, listening to the weekly sessions, so I can understand what I really look for my label.
– Could you tell us about your relationship with the guys who are part of Fonk?
It’s a close relationship, I personally help them to fix the tracks I get as demos. That’s because my main goal is to help all those “bedroom producers” that really deserve it. I was a bedroom producer myself and I am still one of these.
– Let’s go back to Italy, you have been many times in our country, do you like it? Would you like to come back?
It’s been a long time since I perform in Italy, but I love it. This is also because I have spent many of my holidays since I was a child traveling to Italy. I love Tuscany, Venice, Rome and Sicily. I really miss a lot, even from the musical point of view, because the audience is really warm.

- Sappiamo che hai collaborato con artisti italiani come Merk & Kremont e Promise Land, ma oltre a ciò hai promosso con la tua label anche USAI e Dirty Ducks. Cosa ne pensi quindi della scena EDM italiana?
Penso che i produttori italiani siano davvero talentuosi, hanno un groove veramente forte, e mi sono trovato bene a collaborare con questi ragazzi.
- Parliamo invece della tua label Fonk Recordings, progetto ufficialmente aperto nel 2015. In questi anni hai promosso tantissimi giovani talenti, quale è quindi la chiave per far si che un giovane possa crearsi un percorso all’interno di Fonk?
Sicuramente bisogna avere un suono groovy, perché è questo il genere promosso dalla label. Inoltre cerco sempre qualcosa di nuovo, anche un semplice suono che si distingua dagli altri.
Un’altra cosa importante è ovviamente quella di ascoltare le sessioni settimanali, di modo da capire cosa cerco realmente nella mia label.
- Parlaci del tuo rapporto con i ragazzi che fanno parte di Fonk.
Bhè è un rapporto stretto, li aiuto personalmente ad aggiustare le tracce che ricevo come demo. Questo perché il mio obbiettivo principale è aiutare tutti quei “bedroom producers” che meritano veramente. Io stesso ero un bedroom producer e lo sono ancora adesso.
- Torniamo all’Italia, sei stato ospite veramente molte volte nel nostro paese, ti piace? Vorresti tornare?
Effettivamente è da molto tempo che non suono in Italia, ma la amo. Questo anche perché ho speso molte delle mie vacanze di quando ero bambino girando per l’Italia. Adoro la Toscana, Venezia, Roma e la Sicilia. Mi manca veramente molto, anche dal punto di vista musicale, in quanto il pubblico è veramente caloroso.
