Cosa ci dobbiamo aspettare? Ci saranno delle collaborazioni?

Nessuna collaborazione.

È forte, in realtà!

Siamo tuttora in contatto, e stiamo lavorando insieme a qualche progetto.

  • Molte vostre tracce contengono frasi e messaggi positivi, come “Be free”, “Finding hope”, “Being together”, “Never be alone”, “Love”.

ENGLISH VERSION

Our reporters Stefania and Martina reached Third Party, British progressive house DJ duo consisting of Jonnie Macaire and Harry Bass, based in Essex, at Number One Disco (Corte Franca) and seized this opportunity to ask a few questions to the Progressive House legends going to premiere their debut album “Together”. Are you curious?

  • This was your fifth event here in Italy at Number One. Compared to the last time in 2017, has there been a change in terms of performance in our country?

There’s been a change for the people that came to see us because we released our album since we last came here, so tonight there were fans who were just singing so many lyrics and really knew all the songs that we were playing. So, for us it was a big change for the better. There were some hard-core fans that were with us from the beginning to the end.

That’s the change. More hard-cores, more three lines. More people were wearing three lines. The more three lines we’ve seen in the crowd the more it means that something has happened since the last time we came.

  • When and how did you decide to form a duo? And how come have you decided to name yourself ‘Third Party’?

That’s a great question! We decided to be a duo in 2007, twelve years ago. We started making music together, and then the name ‘Third Party’ came a little bit later.

How the name came about is a myth. There’s a legend to it, there are so many stories, we’ve given about ten different ones.

We liked the name, and that was it. The best answer is that ‘Third Party’ means like it’s the music for the fans. We didn’t want even to be the spotlight, we wanted to be the third party and the music was kind of for the fans. The third line is the fans.

  • What are the positive and the negative aspects of managing a label, in your case ‘Release Records’?

The positives are that it gets good music from the new fresh exciting musicians, which is sick!

The negatives are trying to release all the music, because we might like and take a track of one person and say: “That’s sick, and we’re gonna release it soon!” but then there’s no space. And they get very angry. It happened a couple of times when we weren’t able to release their music in the end. And people aren’t very happy with this. Letting people down is the negative.

No collabs. We have collaborations, but they’re not on the album because we want it to be like our sound, like to have an identity. So, the collaborations will be more like edm whereas our album tracks are more like our own sound. The album is just purely us; anyway, there are some artists and singers.

We went back into the studio with Max McElligott, the singer from ‘Live Forever’, and we wrote a lot of new songs like ‘Come With Me’ and ‘Free’. And then there’s another track on the album which we’re very excited about.

The new album is really similar to the first one. It has good music, there’s a little bit of more vocals and more samples inside, a little bit more trying to speak who we are. We’re just really trying to be Third Party rather than tryna fade into a world whether is EDM or Big Room or Progressive House. It doesn’t really matter, we just want to be what we want to do and make what we love. And when we do that, people connect the best. The more that you can just be real it seems that’s when people can connect you and the music. That’s what we are trying to do. For example, like with “Remember”, the last track we’ve just released. That was the first vocal that we wrote on our own, normally we’re singing with the songwriter.

Harry: ‘Remember’ it’s me singing! The next single it’s me singing, and then in the live shows I’m gonna do some singings.

  • We’ve heard that you’ll put the pics of your biggest fans on your album cover. What’s your relationship with them like?

We just got like that everybody who wanted, could send us a picture. The logo for the new album is completely made from the pictures of the people. It’s really cool, actually! We thought maybe it was gonna look like cheesy, but actually, it looks really sick. So, it’s coming, you’ll see it soon. All the pictures are really small, so you can’t see everyone’s face. But it was cool, because the album is called “Together” and in this cover is like being everybody together.

It was a pleasure! He’s a nice guy. When you get that big that quick, you can get to your head quickly and become very egotistical and people can see that you don’t know how to handle that kind of fame. But he has a really good family behind him, he’s very grounded. It seems like he’s just very much into the work. It’s just work, work and work, he enjoys it and it’s fun, but he does work hard.

He said that he’s been a big fan of us for a while. So, it was a nice combination. And then we’re still in contact and we’re working on some stuff with him.

Jonnie: I think if you’re trying to do something like music, art or anything, you’re trying to make people feel good. You go towards the stuff that makes you want to live and feel confident and good. So, we make that stuff for other people, to make them feel good and confident.

Jonnie: On the album, there’s a new one I really like. But actually, for us it’s ‘Remember’, the words have a meaning to us.
