Tufade: Come vi siete conosciuti?

youBEAT is pleased to interview and host top Italian duo MARNIK, more and more lighted on the international scene thanks to the latest productions and successful collaborations like “Bazaar” with the great KSHMR, arrived quickly at the top of Beatport general track and selected as the official soundtrack of SUNBURN Goa 2015.

The following interview questions have been asked by several young dj / producers and Italian selected:

Tufade: How did you meet?
Marnik: We met while working in the recording studio of which we are now owners. I (Alessandro) was managing the study and rent a room to Emanuele who at the time was still producing trance and followed me as an artistic project.

RaverZ: Italian “EDM” is becoming more powerful around the world, how does it feel to be in the leading group and how you can keep the balance in the duo?
Marnik: We feel honored to be considered “leaders” ehehehehe! However finally the Italian EDM is leading around the world with new emerging artists! We said some time ago: “it is only a matter of time, but sooner or later the flag will have a big role in the international arena.”

Skylin3: What kind of studies have you done to become what you are?
Marnik: We both studied classical piano individually for a few years, but we can say that we have become what we are thanks to the hours spent in the studio rowing technically, experiencing new things and improving gradually over the years the quality of our songs. Even though we come from two different backgrounds the route was virtually identical for both. We are also convinced that you don’t need to go attend great schools or have specializations to produce music; you just have to put a lot of passion and a huge commitment and perseverance.

Deiveed: Emanuel, how did you decide to leave the career of LeleTroniq and start again with Alessandro with “Marnik” project?
Marnik: We left our solo careers (Alex Martello and Leletroniq) because after producing a few tracks together, looking at the results, we wanted to start a project together. At first we just wanted to merge our two projects using the pseudonym Hammer & Troniq, but over time we realized that it was best to start from scratch and make a clean break with the past.
Using the first part of “MAR” tello and the second of Leletro “NIK” we created “Marnik”.

Dave: How did you get the idea of creating the hit “Bazaar” with KSHMR and how was working with him?
Marnik: The idea came from the appreciation and respect we have for KSHMR and judging by his post on social seems that the thing is mutual! Our sound somehow has a lot in common with him, and in fact we do not exclude other collaborations in the future.
Niles is a very humble and helpful man so it was very good to work with him because we almost have the same taste in music and so it turns out to be quite easy to throw ideas down.

Torq: What do you think of the evolution of “EDM”? How do you see its future?
Marnik: EDM is definitely evolving but not dying as some claim. The sound is evolving and what the sound of the future will be is still not clear to anyone. We try to focus on creating the best songs possible without fossilizing on a specific genre or subgenres.
In the end quality of tracks makes the difference; therefore we firmly believe that as long as high level music will be produced EDM will have a long life ahead of it.
