  • Hai fatto altri lavori, a parte diventare dj e produttore?

No, ho investito solamente nel produrre musica.

English version

Last week the LA-based dj and producer Valentino Khan performed in Italy at Fuori Orario (Reggio Emilia), hosted by the format Apocalypse Night. YouBEAT was there, and before the show our reporter Stefania welcomed him with an interesting interview!

  • Ciao Valentino! After two years, here we are with another interview! Last time we met at Nameless Music Festival, do you remember?

Of course I do! It was actually one of my favourite festivals I’ve ever played at. The crowd over there is really energetic, I loved it! And now I’m about to play here at Fuori Orario.

  • You recently released “Novocaine” with Kayzo. Tell us more about your relationship with him.

We first really started hanging out when we both were on tour with Carnage. He’s always been a nice guy, very genuine and talented. We just worked on some existing stuff, and eventually came out with a dope track together!

  • After your most successful single ‘Deep Down Low’ (we’re talking about 2015), how has your style changed through these 4 years? And what are the genres you mostly put together?

I wouldn’t say that my style has changed since then. I would just say that I’m trying to perform the sound that I think that Deep Down Low has started and then sparked off. But I’m still making other records that sound different from that, too. So I might be kinda of zoned in on that sound a little more now, and in the House Music world a lot more. I don’t have any particular genre that I mix up, I use everything.

  • Did you have other jobs, beside being a dj and producer?

No, I’ve just invested in making and producing music. I was always producing for rappers, in fact I did some tracks for T.I. and 2 Chainz, but at the same time Dance Music took all from me.

I was a producer at first, and I just liked making the music, and then I eventually found out that you need to actually have a career and learn to be a dj.

  • What about your next releases?

I’m working on a lot of new music that is going to come out on Mad Decent very soon, so just be on a look up for that!
“Pony” will be available on May 10th!

Thanks to Unfolded PR and Virgo Mgmt for the interview!
